Please join CPEHN for an interactive workshop focusing on teaching participants how to effectively frame and communicate messages around key health issues to help you become a more effective health advocate (event flyer)!

  •  Dhaya Lakshminarayanan, Chief Humorist and Communication Specialist with Allegory, a training company (www.allegorytraining.com) will provide proven skills and techniques for learning how to Communicate to be Heard and Remembered™

  •  Participants will then move into facilitated breakout sessions, allowing them to discuss public health issues that can be challenging to talk about (see location-specific small groups topics below).

  •  Participants will then apply the information from the small group discussion to practice their new public speaking skills

  1. Linking violence prevention to public health and primary prevention.

  1. Talking about the health needs of immigrants, focusing on their contributions and dispelling misinformation. (Immigrant HandoutImmigrants and the US Health Care System )
  2. Breaking through apathy and compassion fatigue in talking about poverty.
  3. Reframing the obesity epidemic from an issue of individual responsibility to one of social and environmental conditions.  (Obesity HandoutsThe Problem with Obesity  & Frameworks/UCB College of Environmental Design
